The Parishes of Southington’s Faith Formation Program seeks to provide opportunities for children and adults to grow in their knowledge of God and the Catholic Faith, prepare for and celebrate the sacraments and liturgy of the church, and fulfill their baptismal call to holiness in family, church, and society.
Enrollment for the 2021-2022 faith formation program year is currently open, and classes have already started. Enrollment for the program year now has a late fee of $10.00.
The registration form is linked as a pdf on this page. Please fill out the form completely and submit it (or mail it) to St. Thomas church. Even if your child has been previously registered at one of the Parishes of Southington, or is brand new from a different parish, a copy of their baptismal certificate is REQUIRED for all children at the time of enrollment. Please submit this, along with the enrollment form and registration fee.
Grades 1-4 will meet at St. Thomas in the school. Grades 5-8 will meet in the CCD Center at St. Aloysius Parish, and 9th grade (confirmation class) will be meeting at Mary Our Queen.
Please look over the “Program Handbook” for details and information regarding program structure, mission, policies, and guidelines for the faith formation program.
The sign-up for December’s Family of Faith event in the 2021-2022 program year is now open. The dates for this event will be December 3, 9, and 16. This event will focus on Advent, and will include advent reflections, prayer, and Christ centered Christmas music. December’s event will be held at Mary Our Queen for each session and date.
I have posted the link to the Eventbrite here below. Please let me know if you have any trouble signing up. Please select one ticket for each member of your family that is attending on any of the 3 given dates. Each family only needs to attend ONE session.
The sign-up link for families can be found here:
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/december-family-of-faith-event-registration-170530033922
After you click on the link, please click on the orange box that says select a date, and then choose the date you would like your family to attend.
Please select the number of tickets that matches the number of family members coming. Please place the name of each family member, and specify which grades your children are in, and fill out one for yourselves, and under grade select parent or other.
There will be no separation at this event between elementary and middle school students, as this will be an advent service for the whole family, with song and meditation. I look forward to seeing you all there!
For 10th graders who have been prepared to receive the sacrament of Confirmation this fall, there will be a reconciliation service held on October 10th at 4:00pm (at St. Dominic’s Church), a Confirmation retreat on October 16th (for those who did not attend a retreat last year in their respective program), and Confirmation will occur on November 11th at St. Dominic’s church at 7:00pm.
Please periodically check the website and the bulletin for announcements and updates during the faith formation program year.
The word catechist derives from a Greek word meaning "to echo". Catechists, in the Parishes of Southington, echo the Word of God to the children and youth. Catechists are faithful believers that comprise various ages, skills, and talents. They are not expected to be seasoned teachers or brilliant theologians. They are ordinary people, just like you, who generously volunteer their time to share our Catholic faith, values, and traditions with our youngest generation. Their gift of time and talents has tremendous value... because their words, actions, and expression of faith help the message of Jesus Christ continue to spread throughout the world.
The parishes of Southington are offering a town wide unified faith formation program this fall, and we need parishioners like you to play a role in evangelizing the younger generations in the faith. Training, resources, and materials are provided! Anyone who is interested in serving, please contact the Director of Religious Education, Patrick Reid, via email at [email protected].
